What is HVO green diesel?
HVO green diesel, or Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil, is an advanced biofuel produced from renewable sources such as vegetable oils, animal fats and waste oils. The manufacturing process hydrotreats the feedstock to remove impurities, resulting in a high-quality, low-emission diesel substitute. Unlike conventional fossil diesel, HVO offers reduced greenhouse gas emissions, lower particulate matter and significantly lower sulphur content.
Environmental benefits
HVO delivers an immediate reduction in emissions — up to 90% lower lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions than conventional diesel. It also contains far fewer harmful particulates and nitrogen oxides, which contribute to air pollution and respiratory issues, and it is sourced from renewable feedstocks such as waste cooking oils and agricultural by-products, supporting sustainable resource management and the circular economy.
A drop-in replacement
Because HVO is part of the paraffinic family, like kerosene, it works as a drop-in replacement for home oil heating, vehicles, generators and industrial systems — with no engine modifications required, and excellent performance even in cold weather.
Leading by example with our own green fleet
As well as supplying HVO to our customers, we run our own fleet on the same fuel.
