Air source heat pumps are cost-effective, environmentally friendly systems that absorb heat from the outside air to heat your home and hot water. They allow you to generate your own renewable heat and, for every unit of electricity they use, can typically deliver around three to four units of heat.
Unlike gas and oil boilers, air source heat pumps run at lower temperatures. For every kilowatt of electricity they use, they can generate up to three kilowatts of heat for your radiators, underfloor heating and hot water cylinder.
The outdoor unit installs at the side or back of the property where there's ample airflow, and the indoor unit is usually more compact than a standard boiler. Paired with onsite solar, the system can run on almost entirely renewable energy.
