New Build Heating Systems We Install

The best heating systems for newly built homes are usually heat pumps. New houses are well insulated and airtight, so they need less heat and suit the lower flow temperatures heat pumps deliver. Air source heat pumps suit most plot sizes and are quick to install; ground source heat pumps work well on larger plots and bespoke homes where there is space for the loops. We design solar PV into the specification from the start to help power the heat pump, and supply and fit underfloor heating, correctly sized emitters and mechanical ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR) as one package.

M&E Contractors for Residential Developments

Rawlings Renewables is more than a heating installer. As M&E contractors for residential developments we cover heating, plumbing, electrics, MVHR and solar under one roof, which means fewer trades on site, simpler coordination and a single point of contact from first fix to handover. After completion, your buyers can rely on our servicing and maintenance team. The energy and ventilation requirements for new homes in England are set out in Approved Document L (2026) and Approved Document F (2026), and every install is carried out under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme.

Frequently asked questions about developers & new build

What are the best heating systems for new houses?

Heat pumps are widely considered the best option for newly built homes. Air source and ground source systems work very well in well-insulated houses, offer low running costs and help developers meet modern energy and carbon requirements.

Do newly built homes need low-carbon heating?

Regulations are moving new homes in England towards low-carbon heating. The 2026 edition of Approved Document L, which sets the energy requirements for new homes, was published on 24 March 2026. We can advise on the rules that apply to your site and programme.

Can you handle all the M&E works on our development?

Yes. We cover heating, plumbing, electrics, MVHR and solar, which reduces the number of contractors you need to coordinate on site.

How large a development can you work on?

We work on single builds right up to developments of 50+ units, scaling our team and programme to suit your project.

Do you install heat pumps for newly built homes outside Hampshire?

Yes. Alongside Hampshire, we cover Surrey, West Sussex, Berkshire and Oxfordshire. Contact us to confirm your site location.

Can solar panels be added to a new build heating system?

Yes. Solar PV can be designed alongside a heat pump from the start, helping generate electricity on site and supporting lower running costs for your buyers.
